Philomena Mistretta, age 51, of Coram, was indicted on multiple charges in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, Nov. 8, in connection with an incident at North Bellport’s Miracle Plaza on Montauk Highway.
According to prosecutors, Mistretta was sitting in her driver’s seat when she got into an argument with a woman standing next to the passenger side at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.
As things escalated, she got out of her car and got into a physical fight with the woman. She then returned to her vehicle, angled it toward the victim, and then intentionally struck the woman, dragging her for a short distance, prosecutors said.
The victim was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue with lacerations to her skull. Mistretta was arrested at the scene.
In court Thursday, she was indicted on the following counts:
- Attempted murder in the second degree (felony)
- Attempted assault
- Assault
Mistretta was held on a $200,000 bond. She faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count.
